The smell of a bar-b-cue always makes me think about long hot summery days, and the scent of outdoor candles always makes me yearn for those long winter nights.

On the 1st vaguely warm day of the year the B.B.Q is pulled out and set up. I know then the summer has arrived and I put on my best summer dress and stand around, generally freezing waiting for the burnt offering I know is going to come. There’s something about the scent of a bar-b-cue, though, to truly get the juices flowing. Nevertheless as much as I do love summer, I must say winter has to be my fave season.

Nothing better than coming back home from work switching off the lights, pulling the curtains, lighting lots of candles and sticking on a DVD, something that you just can not do in the summer. It’s even better if it is pouring rain and howling wind outside, one of those days when you simply do not want to leave the house and can get into cosy pyjamas and cuddle up on the settee with a mug of hot chocolate.

Although we do not have an open fire I cluster a lot of different size candles at the fireplace and light them. It gives the room a genuine cosy feeling. Not actually the actual deal , but close enough for me.

I've a enormous collection of candles, all different kinds. I was in Portugal latterly where they sold the most amazing decorative candles, all swirls and lace effects. We were able to get to one of the workshops where they were made.

It was wonderful to see the the way the process worked and I ended up buying a lot of them to take home. They were supposed to be for gifts, but they were too sweet to give away I'm afraid. They are so pretty I don't believe I could ever even light them.

My fave candles for burning, though, are sweet-scented candles and I have one on a busy schedule.

I have a tendency to collect a lot of candles during the summer. I do still burn them, just not as much. They get even more ornamental than practical then. Candles are one of my giant vices I'm fearful. I can not walk past a shop if I spot candles and I don't think I have ever marched out of a store without buying them.

My hubby does not understand my fascination with them and would be horrified if he knew how much I spend on them. Some ladies buy shoes or purses; I buy candles and a lot of them.

He is trying though. When I arrived home from work last week tired and grumpy, he’d run me a hot steaming bath with tons of bubbles. He’d even lit masses of gorgeous smelling candles and placed them around the bathroom knowing how much I love them. Bliss. You've got to love him.

We buy all our outdoor candles from candle supply, they inexpensive out of doors candles that we like using all of the time when we have buddies round. Candle Supply are also the UKs 1 Wholesale Candle Supplier too.
